Description: Le jeu de données des Premières Nations contient à la fois l’emplacement géographique des Premières Nations (groupes et sous-groupes) du Canada sous forme de points ainsi que quelques attributs de base. La localisation vise à identifier l'endroit où vivent les Premières Nations. Chaque point de Première Nation représente l'adresse de son bureau administratiftel qu'il est inscrit dans le système d'information sur l'administration des bandes des Services aux Autochtones Canada (SAC). Lorsque le bureau administratif d'une Première Nation est situé à l'extérieur des limites de la réserve la plus populeuse associée, un rajustement est fait afin de localiser le point à l'intérieur des limites de celle-ci, sinon à l'intérieur des limites d'une autre réserve qui lui est associée ou dans la ville où est situé le bureau administratif. Lorsque l'adresse du bureau administratif ou de la Première Nation est impossible à localiser, celle-ci repose sur les meilleures informations disponibles sur la Première Nation (ex. site Web officiel de la Première Nation). Un lien à la base de données du Système d'information sur l'administration des bandes est en place afin d'assurer que tout changement au système se réflète dans les attributs associés à la localisation de chacune des Premières Nations.Ce jeu de données est la source officielle à Services aux Autochtones Canada (SAC) et Relations Couronne-Autochtones et Affaires du Nord Canada (RCAANC) pour la localisation géographique des Premières Nations.==============================The First Nations geographic location dataset contains the geographic location of First Nations (groups and subgroups) in Canada as points as well as basic attributes data. The location identifies where the First Nations live. Each First Nation point represents its administrative office address as it is registered in Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) Band Governance Management System (BGMS). When the First Nation administrative office is located outside its associated most populated reserve boundary, adjustments are made to relocate the point within its boundaries, otherwise within the boundaries of another associated reserve or the city where the administrative office is located. When the administrative office or the First Nation is impossible to locate, the location is based on the best available information on the First Nation (e.g. official First Nation Web site). A connection with the BGMS is in place to ensure that any update to the system is reflected in the attributes data associated with the location of each First Nation.This dataset is Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) and Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) official source for First Nation geographic location on maps.
